Jury duty: Unfair burden or civic obligation?

As jurors in the Shafia murder trial returned to a Kingston, Ont., courtroom Tuesday, at least some of them were no doubt getting increasingly anxious about the financial toll the lengthy trial could have on them personally.
The trial of the husband, wife and son accused of killing four family members was interrupted last Thursday, two weeks after it began, when one of the defendants had to be taken to hospital, delaying a trial that was already expected to last several months.
