Hospital bed charge illegal: Lawyer
Posted February 22, 2011 - Advocacy Centre for the Elderly lawyer Jane Meadus says it's illegal for hospitals to charge long-term care patients $600 per day, even if they refuse to leave for an available bed in a nursing home. Some hospitals in the Windsor region are demanding the extra payment to cope with a shortage of beds.
